This course is an exposition of the book of Acts. This course traces the victorious spread of the Gospel from Jerusalem, Judea/Samaria, to the ends of the earth, enabling the student to grasp the significance of the events that God used to bring about this movement. The book of Acts establishes the theological-historical framework for the church and its mission.
Meet your Teacher
J. Michael McKay Jr. is Assistant Professor of Biblical Theology at Cedarville University. Michael earned a PhD in Biblical Studies from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Master of Arts in Exegetical Studies from Grace Theological Seminary. Michael taught at EBI’s Michigan campus for many years. Michael and his wife Lee-Ann have been married for 25 years and have three children.
Learning Objective Statements
Upon completion of this course the student will;
- Be able to trace the spread of the Gospel from Jew to Gentile historically and geographically by describing the major events that led to that end under the providence of God.
- Be able to articulate a Biblical Theology of enduring persecution based upon the book of Acts.
- Be able to explain how the individual stories in the book of Acts contribute to the overall message of the book.
- Understand the significance of the miracles in Acts as they relate to the historical setting in which they are found and the meta-narrative of the book as a whole.
